Preveli Palm Beach
Preveli beach is a real jewel of Crete, located 35 km south of Rethymno. It combines sea, river and palm forest. The river comes harmoniously through the palm forest and goes out to the sea, where a sandy beach with a pebble bottom and cool crystal clear waters is formed.
In the eastern part of the beach there is another masterpiece created by nature, a rock that resembles a heart in its shape, called Glymmenos Volakas. According to local legend, the king of Ithaca, Odysseus, remained in the wider area of Preveli after the end of the Trojan War on his return to Ithaca from Troy.
You should definitely not miss the opportunity to explore the sea caves that form after the eastern end.
