Samaria Gorge is the most famous hiking gorge in Europe, being part of the European trail E4. Thousands of tourists walk it in the summer. For many, this is the main purpose of their visit to Crete. Its length reaches 15 km and its descent takes about 5-7 hours, depending on your pace, from Omalos to Agia Roumeli.
The Minoan palace is the main visitable area of Knossos, an important city in antiquity, with continuous life from the Neolithic years to the 5th c.
